CollectPlus study reveals UK shoppers’ spending plans for summer holiday wardrobes

New research from CollectPlus has found that UK shoppers are set to spend more than £4.3bn on their holiday wardrobes this summer. The CollectPlus research showed that, on average, people are planning to spend £185 each on their holiday wardrobe this year, with one in ten buying a whole new wardrobe.

The study also found that over half (58%) shop online, with more than a third (35%) admitting that’s where they expect to get better deals. Over a third (35%) said that they shop online as they find it easier to have items delivered to their home.

Of those that will buy new clothes, over three quarters (77%) admit that they won’t wear everything they’ve bought. However, only 8% return their unworn summer clothing to the shops. Of these people, nearly half (45%) return them to the store, nearly a fifth (18%) via online returns and over a sixth (17%) via a returns service, such as CollectPlus or Doddle.
