Alibaba’s Ma discusses US jobs plan with President-elect Trump

Alibaba founder Jack Ma and President-elect Donald Trump met earlier this week to discuss how the Chinese online retail giant’s long-term plans could result in more US jobs. Alibaba has said it wants its marketplace to provide a conduit for US companies to sell their goods to China’s consumers – and Ma has indicated that the company will help to create “one million US jobs”.

Ma and Trump met at Trump Towers on Monday (9 January) and said the talks had been positive.  Analysts, however, have said that the million job pledge was more about generate good PR rather than real substance.
