Is Amazon getting ready to Go in the UK?

There has been speculation that Amazon may be planning to launch its Amazon Go checkout-free grocery stores in the UK, after it was revealed the UK Intellectual Property Office has approved the company’s application to trademark the slogans “No Lines. No Checkout. (No, Seriously.)” and “No Queue. No Checkout. (No, Seriously.)” The No Lines… catchphrase has been used to promote the test Amazon Go store that the retailer opened in Seattle last year. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, the futuristic shop has no checkouts and instead uses sensors and other technologies to log customers’ shopping items.

According to a notice on the UKIPO website, the trademark application was filed on 11 May and published on Friday (19 May).

Amazon has also been targeting the UK grocery sector with its Amazon Fresh, Amazon Pantry and Amazon Prime delivery sectors.
