Poste Italiane to expand courier and express postal services

The state-owned mail service provider Poste Italiane, plans to expand in the international courier and express postal services sector. From June this year Poste Italiane intends to provide a new express postal service through its courier service SDA Express Courier.
On June 1 2001, SDA founded a joint venture with the French La Poste subsidiary Chronopost International in which SDA holds a 51% stake and Chronopost the remaining 49%.
SDA and Chronopost are now offering daily return flights from Rome, Milan and Pisa to Paris. The partners also plan to exploit the worldwide network of the CEP giant Fedex.
