DHL Worldwide workers strike in Germany

Workers at DHL Worldwide Express, a German unit of mail and logistics giant Deutsche Post AG, walked off their jobs for several hours Thursday to press demands for a 5-percent pay raise.

The company has offered a 1.8 percent raise in two rounds of talks on a new contract covering 2,700 employees. The next round is set for May 7-8.

About 60 workers took part in the warning strikes at DHL Worldwide Express operations in Bremen and Dortmund, the ver.di services union said.
