Walmart extending grocery delivery pilot to Orlando and Dallas

Retailer Walmart has announced that it is expanding its grocery delivery pilot to two more US markets, Orlando and Dallas. In a blog posted on the Walmart website today (21 August), Mike Turner, Vice President of Ecommerce Operations, commented: “We’ve been testing delivery in a number of ways for a while now in key markets across the country. In some areas, we’re trying general merchandise deliveries led by associates. In others, we’re testing grocery delivery using Walmart trucks and drivers.”

Customers in the coverage area for the Walmart home delivery service can build up an online basket on the Walmart website or through a mobile browser. The items are picked and packed in-store by Walmart staff (or “associates”) and then taken to the customers’ homes by Uber drivers, or other delivery partners.
