Amazon flexing its delivery muscles?

Amazon has reportedly been trialing a new delivery service on the US West Coast whereby it arranges for goods to be picked up from warehouses of third-party merchants selling on Amazon and then delivered to end customers. According to a report published by Bloomberg Technology last week, the pilot project is called “Seller Flex” and it could be set for a broader roll-out in 2018.

Amazon has declined to comment on the reports. Industry observers say that if Amazon were to launch such a service, it would probably be used as a complement to its existing arrangements with delivery partners such as UPS and FedEx.
