Best Buy expands same-day delivery coverage

US retailer Best Buy has announced that it is expanding its same-day delivery coverage, as well as offering free shipping over the holiday season. In a statement issued yesterday (30 October), Best Buy said: “After expanding same-day delivery to more than 25 metro areas this fall, we’ve now expanded the service to more than 40 U.S. metro areas.”

The service is powered by Best Buy’s third-party provider GEODIS.

In areas where the service is available, customers can place orders up to 3pm local time for delivery by 9pm that night, for a cost of $5.99. Same-day delivery is available seven days a week – although Sunday deadlines are an hour earlier.

The new metro areas now eligible for same-day delivery are: Birmingham, Alabama; Cleveland; Detroit; Indianapolis; Little Rock, Arkansas; Milwaukee; New Orleans, Oklahoma City; Portland, Oregon; Raleigh, North Carolina; Salt Lake City and St. Louis.

Meanwhile, Best Buy also announced – a very staccato style – that it has launched its seasonal free shipping offer: “All. Season. Long. From now until Christmas Day, orders on BestBuy.com will ship at no cost to you.

“There’s no minimum purchase amount. No membership fee. Just free and easy to use.”
