European Commission approves De Post-La Poste recapitalisation

The European Commission has given the go-ahead to the 297.4 million euro recapitalisation of De Post-La Poste. The transaction is key to the healthy future of the company.

The company’s management welcomed the European Commission’s decision and thanked all those who have helped bring the case to a favourable conclusion.

The 297.4 million euro recapitalisation provides De Post-La Poste with the financial resources to push on with its modernisation and investment plan.

The future of De Post-La Poste is inextricably bound to the continued rollout of modernisation programmes in the field. These programmes are aimed at upgrading the quality of services offered by De Post-La Poste and cutting operational costs. Only then will De Post-La Poste be equipped to cope with the liberalisation of the postal market and the continuing fall in postal volumes.

Management reaffirmed its desire to drive through modernisation at De Post-La Poste in close collaboration with trade unions and in a calm social climate.
