Danish SwipBox secures a multi-million contract to supply parcel lockers for the Finnish market

The dramatic growth in e-commerce and the consequent rise in the volume of parcels have created a large demand for new solutions for sending and receiving, not to mention for returning parcels. One such solution is delivered by Danish software company SwipBox, which has just been chosen to supply Finnish retail distributor Lehtipiste Oy with 750 parcel locker units in 300 locations for installation throughout Finland.

Annual growth rates of 15-20% in the number of parcel shipments in most European countries has created a need for new methods of delivering and sending packages. In Finland, work is underway on constructing a nationwide network of over 750 parcel lockers – primarily in major cities.

”We are experiencing high demand from many of the major markets, with consumers increasingly seeking solutions that allow them to simply and conveniently send, receive and return parcels when itsuits them in the course of their daily lives. We are therefore delighted by the opportunity to collaborate with Lehtipiste Oy, a company with many years of experience in delivering to Finland’s largest retailers. The solution is an open network, meaning that it is possible to open it up for use by
more than one logistics providers,” says Allan Kaczmarek, CEO and founder of SwipBox.

The best solution in the market

According to Lehtipiste Oy, it was the combination of the best product in the market and SwipBox’s experience that made the difference: ”Strategically, we have chosen to supplement our network with a parcel delivery solution that meets the demands of both retailers and consumers. The choice fell on SwipBox, a company with a proven ability to operate with a range of stakeholders in more than 40 countries. We believe that the SwipBox Solution is the best in the market and this, together with SwipBox’s dedicated attitude, made the difference. We are looking forward to beginning the first phase of implementation this autumn,” says Timo Värri, Production & Logistics Director at Lehtipiste Oy.

The new parcel lockers will be installed as early as the coming autumn

The 750 parcel lockers will be manufactured by the Danish company Elogic Systems, with the first ones ready for installation in Finland in this autumn. Finnish consumers can therefore begin to look forward to completely new opportunities for sending, receiving and returning parcels.
