Postcomm proposes modification to TNT’s mailroom services licence

Postcomm today (28 January 2004) proposed a modification to an interim licence held by TNT UK Ltd to enable the company to carry more letters under its mailroom services contracts.

The current licence held by the company for this work limits the number of items to be conveyed to 40.5 million per year. The proposed modification would remove this limit.

Notes
TNT’s original licence dates from June 2001 when Postcomm deliberately limited the scale of competition by issuing pilot licences. Following the first stage of market opening on 1 January 2003, there is no longer a need to restrict TNT’s mailroom operations.

The consultation period for the proposed modification will close on 27 February. The text can be found on Postcomm’s website, www.psc.gov.uk. Copies are available from Postcomm at 6 Hercules Road, London SE1 7DB.
