Coronavirus causes significant distruption for postal operators

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) continues to have a temporary suspension of the guarantee on Priority Mail Express International destined for China and Hong Kong, effective from 10 February, as a result of widespread airline cancellations and restrictions into those areas. 

As a consequence, and “starting immediately,” USPS said it can no longer accept items destined for China, Hong Kong and Macao “until sufficient transport capacity becomes available.”

Customers may see delays in mail and packages to and from China. China Post says delays should be expected in mail transport, processing and delivery.

While USPS continues to accept mail destined to areas affected by the coronavirus, the coronavirus has caused some significant disruption of service in multiple countries globally.
