SwipBox introduces intelligent labelling to enable circular packaging

SwipBox  has announced a new solution, called SwipBox Circuit, which enables web shops and logistics providers to reuse strong packaging material up to 1,000 times.  This way packaging can actually become a sustainable solution.

Online shopping has exploded globally, and as a result the number of parcels delivered in SwipBox parcel lockers has increased. It was therefore natural for the company to look at an innovative solution that enables circular packaging. The first step in this process was acquiring Pero Solutions, the company which initially developed the intelligent labelling solution in close collaboration with a local packaging manufacturer.

“We’re always thinking about new, innovative solutions to either improve or complement our parcel lockers” said SwipBox founder Allan Kaczmarek.

“Being part of the UN SDG Accelerator Program, sustainability is front of mind for us. Apart from having made the Infinity parcel locker extremely energy-efficient, we have also designed it for disassembly, with 98.8% of its materials easily disposed of in standard waste fractions to be recycled.  With the Circuit solution we’re now introducing a highly sustainable shipping solution,” he continued.

One solution – 1,000 shipments

Today, a consumer picks up a parcel, brings it home and discards the packaging. With the Circuit solution, the consumer simply removes the content and leaves the packaging for the courier to return. Compared to disposable cardboard packaging, which has an average lifetime of 24 hours, the sustainable benefits of the Circuit solution become clear.

SwipBox is launching Circuit this autumn to reduce the climate footprint and help customers meet the forthcoming legal requirements contained in Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste. “By 31 December 2025, at least 65% by weight of all packaging waste must be recycled. The Circuit solution, which we are about to pilot with a trusted Infinity partner, will help logistics providers fulfil the requirements of this directive,” SwipBox Commercial Development Director Mark Yeoman explained.

Ideal for all OOH delivery types – especially Infinity lockers

While the Circuit solution is ideal for all types of out-of-home delivery, it is particularly suitable for the Infinity parcel locker, with return packaging simply left for the courier to pick up.
