Palletways extends European network to Canary Islands

European express pallets network Palletways has extended its reach to the Canary Islands. The company that started up in the UK in 1994 said its Iberian network member Loto Logística is delivering the service to the Spanish island group off the coast of Morocco and Western Sahara.

It said the expansion completes the network’s coverage across Spain and Portugal.

Rachael Alpha, Managing Director at Palletways Europe GmbH, said: “This expansion is part of our wider strategy to bring our services closer to customers across Europe. It also reinforces our position as Europe’s largest network for the express distribution services for palletised goods.”

Loto Logística has been operating for about 10 years, and has its head office in Coslada, Madrid, with depots in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from where goods from the Canary Islands can be distributed across Europe.

Jose López-Infantes, General Manager at Loto Logística, said: “We wanted to be part of a network which mirrored the quality of service and work ethos at Loto Logística and we have found just that in Palletways.”

Palletways Group’s European network now comprises 300 depots and 10 hub operations across 11 European countries, handling about 25,000 pallets each day. The network is made up of independent transport companies who share resources to deliver small consignments of palletised freight across Europe.

Palletways Iberia has hub operations in Madrid and Saragossa.

Luis Zubialde, managing director for Palletways Iberia, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Loto Logistica and to be able to provide a dedicated service to the whole of Spain. The company has proven experience and I’m sure our business in the area will grow from strength to strength.”
