Sanmina-Sci and UPS to provide global integrated supply chain solutions

Sanmina-SCI Corporation and UPS announced today that UPS Supply Chain Solutions will provide global logistics services for Sanmina-SCI customers. By utilizing their worldwide networks, Sanmina-SCI and UPS will work to create significant savings through inventory reduction, rapid order delivery, and the reduction/elimination of fixed expenses such as dedicated warehousing assets for its shared customers.
The first joint project is to support Sanmina-SCI’s Supply Chain Services Agreement with IBM, announced earlier this month. This agreement expands Sanmina-SCI’s fulfillment flexibility and speed in the United States, Mexico, Scotland, Hungary, Holland, Dubai, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Australia.

Sanmina-SCI, a leading supplier of integrated design, and electronics manufacturing solutions (EMS), and UPS, the global leader in distribution and logistics, will work in tandem to provide order fulfillment, logistics, and distribution for IBM’s Options and Visual Products. Both companies have provided IBM a broad range of global services for several years.

“Sanmina-SCI has a proven history of developing world-class services and capabilities by forming strategic relationships,” said Bhawnesh Mathur, Executive Vice President, Supply Chain Management, Sanmina-SCI’s EMS Division. “Our agreement with UPS is an outstanding demonstration of our flexibility and commitment to customer service. The leveraging of our best-in-class capabilities with UPS’s unsurpassed global capabilities will provide the highest level and most complete global service solution that our customers require.”

“As a company, we are seeking to support the electronics industry with expansive global supply chain solutions,” said John Sutthoff, Vice President of UPS Supply Chain Solution. “The global logistical capability created by this relationship will allow Sanmina-SCI’s customers, such as IBM, to reach new and existing end customers more effectively and more efficiently by tapping into both companies’ manufacturing and global supply chain expertise. We are pleased to be able to work together with Sanmina-SCI in developing and delivering these global solutions.”
