The Croatian parliament adopted a customer protection bill on Thursday aimed at introducing further European standards in the former Yugoslav republic that hopes to join the next wave of EU enlargement in 2007. The new law is the first to regulate protection in the field of public services and utilities, including fixed phone network, postal services, gas, electricity, heating and water utilities.

The stand-in CEO for Latvijas Pasts said that on June 02 the Accord 2 agreement is set to be signed in Switzerland, which should thus state Latvijas Pasts “preparedness for moving towards EU quality standards and readiness to work towards implementing these.”
