APC On Course For Record Profits

The Essington based privately owned company has reported that its figures will show continued growth with record revenue and profits. This will accelerate its planned investment in IT.

Quentin Abel Managing Director commented “Naturally I am delighted at these record figures but most importantly our service levels at 99.8% have been confirmed again which is excellent news for the customer and underpins the reason fro our success”.

APC has enjoyed an average of 35% growth since it was first established in 1994.

Eight New Double Deck Trailers Ordered

APC has ordered a further eight ‘swan neck’ double deck trailers to add to its trunking fleet. This will take the total of double deck trailers up to 25 and will help towards reducing APC’s impact on the environment. The remaining 100 articulated trunking vehicles will all be replaced overtime

Business Post rivals say they are growing

Business Post and chief executive Paul Carvell were in the eye of a parcels sector storm this week. At issue is the degree to which its high-profile problems are specific to the company and how much they reflect a downturn in the sector. The group has been under intense scrutiny as the only pure parcels firm to be publicly traded, and stock market sentiment is clear; the share price has plummeted from a steady 690p to just 320p as the group rushed out earlier-than-expected interim results and with them a second warning on profits in seven weeks. Carvell says year-on-year volumes are falling for the first time in the firm’s 34-year history. The decline reflects the market, he says, and rivals are said to have emailed him messages to that effect when he had to issue a profits warning on September 21.

APC increases turnover

APC Overnight announced a 16% increase in turnover to GBP37m for the year ended March 31 2005. Profit rose i line, APC said, but it declined to give details ahead of confirmation by auditors.

FORTEC TALKS WITH APC

Fortec Distribution Network and APC Overnight are in talks about working together, says Fortec director Rob Abrahams. Plans are in the “early stages”, he says.

The news comes as a second APC member company joins Fortec. Millbray Pallets has been formed as a subsidiary of L&C, based in Hainault, Essex to do the Fortec work.
