Shop@Panasonic, a group of retail outlets and online stores based in south-west England that specialises in Panasonic products, has extended its contract with parcels carrier APC Overnight.

Read MoreAPC Overnight has won a contract with the world’s second-largest container shipping company, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), for time-definite next day delivery in the UK.
APC was chosen from a number of carriers for the contract with Ipswich-based MSC involving the provision of time-definite next day delivery of important shipping documents (Bills of Lading). MSC sends hundreds of these documents every week to companies around the UK.
MSC has an APC Overnight implant system allowing orders to be entered and labels produced in house ready for collection, with deliveries being guaranteed by noon the next day. According to MSC, APC Overnight’s online tracking provides added assurance that documents have been received safely.

At Bellshill a third of all parcels received are sorted and distributed in Scotland without ever crossing the border. This enables the Scottish depots to offer much earlier deliveries. Not only does this improve efficiency it also helps APC Overnight to reduce the carbon footprint of its business and manage the drivers’ Working Time better. In addition, by keeping these consignments within Scotland the Essington hub in the Midlands is able it to optimize its services for the rest of the UK.
With a depot in each of Scotland’s major cities and further depots in Kilmarnock, Dumfries, Arrochar, APC Overnight’s fleet of around 170 delivery vehicles is well positioned to serve the entire country. In addition the network is expanding and this reflects the steady year-on-year growth in business.

Barber has developed his Thames Valley-based Scarlet Couriers into one of the UK’s largest independent couriers. He brings his skills in targeted branding and publicity to his new role at APC Overnight. “It’s said that a brand is a promise that you make to the customer – underlining what people can expect of a company. Our brand stands for quality on a national scale, and our task is to make sure it is recognised wherever people need excellent delivery services,” says Barber.
Ziaullah is passionate about the parcel delivery business and his can-do attitude has proven to be the driving force of the 25 year history of his Northampton-based company Action Express. “The dedication of people involved in the network “from Day One” is a major APC strength, and the current Board offers and excellent balance of skills and experience to take the company forward,” adds Ziaullah.
