Geopost discusses bid for Polish Masterlink and Spanish Seur

The board of directors of Geopost, the parcel delivery holding of France’s national postal service operator La Poste, held an extraordinary meeting in order to decide whether to bid for the entirety of Polish forwarder Masterlink and for the Madrid franchise of the Spanish express delivery service Seur. Geopost already holds a 50 per cent stake in Masterlink, while it is reported that Posten, the Swedish postal service operator, is planning to sell its stake. Madrid franchise for Seur, which represents more than 20 per cent of the franchise network in Spain, is reported by a press source to be worth around 127m euros.

Parcels company invests over Pounds 2m in new Birmingham workshop facilities to service its expanding trailer fleet.

GeoPost has bucked an industry trend by investing Pounds 2.1m in an in-house maintenance facility for its Birmingham fleet. The seven-acre site, near to its West Midland hub, now comprises ten bays.

GeoPost forms joint venture for Croatia

GeoPost has teamed up with Austrian forwarder Lagermax to extend the DPD parcel network to Croatia. Lagermax owns 70% and GeoPost 30% of new joint venture DPD Croatia. The company will offer a nationwide service through Lagermax depots in Zagreb, Split, Osijek and Rijeka.

GeoPost selects Neopost for all its internet parcel shipping services

Neopost – Europe’s leading supplier of mailing solutions and logistics systems -and GeoPost – a holding company for the French and European parcels subsidiaries of La Poste – have signed an agreement under which Neopost will
supply its Cyberstation© system to GeoPost’s operational units (Chronopost
International, DPD, Tat Express etc.). The system has been developed by Neopost Logistics Systems, and the first service to use it is Chronopost International’s ChronoShip OnLine. Cyberstation© will enable customers of GeoPost’s operational units to prepare shipments, print the corresponding consignment notes and manage their address book over the Internet.

A road-air service connecting Turkey with destinations across Europe in two to three days represents just the begin of GeoPost’s ambitions in the region.
Launching a Joint Venture with Yurtiçi Kargo in Istanbul last week, Claud Béglé, CEO of GeoPost northern Europe, said a middle market was emerging between highpriced integrator services and traditional road parcel deliveries offered by companies such as DPD, the pan-European network 85% owned by GeoPost.
