The Hungarian Postal Service (Magyar Posta) will refresh its database containing information about the lifestyles of clients, and consequently they are currently sending out millions of questionnaires to Hungarian households, reports Napi.hu (subscriber only).
The questionnaires will be addressed to those clients who are currently included in the database, in addition to being sent to another two million residents. The questions can also be answered online.
The update was made necessary because the rights to manage the current database will expire at the end of this year, so Magyar Posta is required by law to delete it. Results from the current study can be used from next year onward. Based on the collected information, the company can approach clients with customized offers which fit into their lifestyle.
As they have previously, the company is encouraging clients to fill in and return the questionnaires with prizes worth a total of Ft 10 million (over €41,000), with the main prize being a Fiat.

Itella Information is expanding its operations to Russia and Central Europe. During early autumn 2008 Itella Information starts operations in Moscow and Bratislava. Russian and Central European information logistics markets are growing and new services related to outsourcing of information flow processes are welcomed. At the end of the year Itella Information will also start in Hungary, Czech Republic and Austria.
Earlier this year Itella Information expanded to Poland and created a joint venture with Norway Post in the field of information logistics in Norway. Itella Information operates already in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. At the end of the year it has operations already in 14 countries.
Itella Information provides services for the processing, management and delivery of information flows. As a market leader in Northern Europe Itella Information offers solutions for both physical and electronic information flows helping customers move to e-transactions.
Austrian Post Acquires Hungarian Company: Cont Media
Austrian Post acquired a 100 pct shareholding in the Hungarian company Cont Media Hungary kft. The closing took place on September 1, 2008. In 2005, Austrian Post had already acquired feibra Hungary, the leader on the Hungarian market for unaddressed direct mail. The Austrian Post Group has now also taken over Cont Media, the second largest company in this market segment. As a result of the acquisition of Cont Media, Austrian Post now has a nationwide logistics network for distributing advertising brochures on the important Hungarian market. On balance, feibra and Cont Media jointly have a market share of slightly 60 pct.
