In Indonesia, up to four post offices have been opened under the franchise program offered by PT Pos Indonesia (Pos). The outlets are managed by PT Nusal Kurnia Abadi, PT Karya Cipta Usaha, PT Bhawana Sigra Caraka and PT Arya Shinta Group. Pos is offering franchise program with up to Rp 150mn (US$ 16,528.93) investment.

DHL to open international gateway in Medan

Air delivery company DHL Indonesia, a subsidiary of Brussels-based DHL Worldwide Express, said on Thursday it would open an international gateway in Medan, North Sumatra, in June this year.
“Medan is closer to Singapore so the export-import activities in Greater Medan will be faster, cheaper and more efficient,” DHL Indonesia gateway manager Adenan Tampubolon said during a press visit to the DHL gateway in Jakarta.

UPS Confident About Indonesian Market

The Atlanta-based courier United Parcel Service (UPS) plans to triple the freight capacity of its Indonesian services to 14 tons per night starting in June this year, indicating the company’s confidence in Indonesia’s trade prospects. UPS Indonesia announced on Wednesday that it had completed negotiations with authorities to operate a Boeing 737 express cargo jet six nights per week from Halim Perdanakusumah airport in Jakarta starting in June.

Courier service providers have realized that “express” is not the only term sought by customers, but also logistics, transportation, customs brokerage and inventory management.
