Postal service to raise some fees from November 15

State-owned Magyar Posta Rt will be able to raise centrally-regulated postal fees on average by a maximum of 5.6pc from November 15, under a decision by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (IHM), the Ministry informed MTI on Thursday.

Magyar Posta called for the price rise to counter this year’s losses as well as the expected rise in operating costs next year. The rise should bring the postal service an extra HUF 300m in revenue this year and another HUF 2.5bn next year, calculating with a 3pc increase in turnover in 2003. IHM approved the price rise after consulting with the Ministry of Finance and taking the government’s inflation target into consideration.
