TPG avoids 1.4 mln Euro Opta fine
TPG NV avoided a fine of up to 1.4 mln eur from Dutch post regulator Opta after the company struck a service agreement with its Dutch rival MailMerge, MailMerge said in a statement.

requires TPG to provide insight into the results from different categories
of its postal activities. In early 2001 TPG launched a complaint against
‘some unnecessary conditions’ Opta attached to its disclosure system. Opta
responded in mid-2001 by maintaining most of the conditions as well as
adding some additional conditions. According to TPG, the new conditions are
‘inconsistent with the system approved by Opta itself’ and as a result
‘unworkable’. TPG is asking the court to suspend Opta’s decision.
The Dutch cabinet has decided that the telecom and postal sector watchdog Opta will remain an independent body until 2005, Opta said.
