FedEx Express celebrates artisan’s month (Puerto Rico)

FedEx Express, committed to the development of small and medium businesses in Puerto Rico, announced efforts to help local artisans to export their art globally.

Starting in July, in celebration of Artisan’s Month, FedEx will provide shipping discounts to certified artisans that join the FedEx PyMEx Membership Program. This is the first complete program offered by a transportation company to facilitate access to the global market for small and medium businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the main benefits provided by the program are: technology for their shipments, specialized consultancy in global trade and direct advice with no additional cost to members.

Artisans should access www.fedexpymex.com and register for the Program free of charge. The only thing need to participate is a FedEx account number.

FedEx Express Latin America and Caribbean Division services more than 50 countries and territories throughout Latin America and the Caribbean and employs more than 3,400 people committed to total customer satisfaction each business day.

CTDC and USPS facilitate passport process to Caribbean

The Caribbean Tourism Development Company (CTDC) has partnered with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to make it easier for consumers to apply for their passports. During the CTDC’s Caribbean Fair cultural extravaganza, Tuesday, June 12 at South Street Seaport Piers 16 and 17, USPS representatives will be present to help Fair attendees who are U.S. citizens apply for their passports. The Caribbean Fair is one of many events taking place during CTDC’s annual Caribbean Week 2007 in New York City which brings numerous Caribbean festivities to New York.

According to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), which went into effect in January 2007, all U.S. citizens are required to present a passport when returning to the U.S. by air from the Caribbean, Mexico, Bermuda, South and Central America and Canada. In 2008 travelers arriving by cruise ship or land crossing will also be required to have a passport. CTO member countries – Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands – are exempt from this U.S. government requirement.

FedEx Freight boosts Puerto Rico service

FedEx Freight said it is improving its ocean less-than-container load service by combining its mainland administrative and delivery systems with those of its Puerto Rican operating company, Caribbean Transportation Services. The LTL carrier says the consolidation of systems with CTS will simplify the process for shippers and improve overall efficiency. “By providing speed, precision, end-to-end visibility and a single invoice, it simplifies things for the customer. We believe it’s a value proposition,” said Dennie Carey, senior vice president of marketing.
