Seur: plain sailing

Seur’s year-on-year increase was primarily driven by the international business, which has traditionally been the company’s Achilles’ heel. Last year’s launch of a partnership with the French GeoPost has enabled Seur to improve this part of the business almost immediately with the upward trend likely to continue in 2005.

Leading Spanish express and courier company Seur has posted its 2004 financial results, although it only stated and commented upon total sales as the company is not listed on the stock market and is therefore not obliged to release complete financial statements.

The company reported revenues of E543 million, an 8.7% increase on the previous year’s figure. Seur’s outgoing president, Mr Ramon Mayo, emphasized the significant growth in international business, with sales from this segment almost doubling last year’s figures, and now representing 8% of total revenues at E43.4 million.

Seur to double overseas business within a year after La Poste tie-up

The recent tie-up between Seur and France’s La Poste has set up the Spanish delivery services group for strong international growth over the next five years.

According to Ramón Mayo, the vice president of Seur España, the alliance with La Poste will see the contribution of the Spanish group’s international operations to total turnover double within a year to 14 percent from 7 percent.

La Poste unit GeoPost acquired a 12.5 percent stake in Seur España out of the 21 percent put on the block by the founder of the Spanish group Justo Yúfera in February. The remaining 8.5 percent ended up in the hands of the 64 remaining partners in the transportation business.

Mayo said Seur had been looking at ways off expanding its overseas business for some time. However, he said the process of finding an international associate was complicated by the structure of the group, which is organized around 85 franchises handed out by its partners.

Seur: international business forms basis for optimistic outlook

Spanish express company Seur has increased its sales revenues by 8.1% compared to the same period last year and remains bullish regarding its full year turnover. Seur’s positive outlook seems well founded: its alliance with France’s GeoPost has been particularly successful, driving significant growth in Seur’s international business.

Seur has also announced that the company foresees reaching E544.6 million turnover for the whole of fiscal 2004, which would represent a 9% increase year-on-year. This growth will be driven by increased sales from the company’s international business.
