TNT Express acquires Slovenian domestic express distribution company ‘Door-to-Door’

TNT Express today announced that it has acquired ‘Door-to-Door’, Slovenia’s leading domestic transport company. While TNT has operated in Slovenia through a local agent since 1994, the acquisition of what is the company’s strongest partner in the country now confirms TNT’s position as the leading express delivery company in Eastern Europe.
Jack Hereijgers, General Manager East European Associates, TNT Express commented: “We are extremely pleased about this acquisition as ‘Door-to-Door’ is a respected and professional leader in domestic express distribution with similar values to TNT. It will provide us with a solid foundation from which to develop and grow our domestic and international businesses.”

The International AddressGuide – now published with eastern European countries

The cross-border sourcing of addresses for direct mailing is becoming easier for eastern European countries: the new edition of the International AddressGuide from Swiss Post International now also includes, alongside the existing 15 countries in western Europe, new entries for Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. The AddressGuide lists 500 providers from 20 countries and describes what they have to offer, with key figures such as the number of company addresses, decision-makers, private addresses, selection criteria, and the extent of their special address databases. To help users evaluate potential suppliers, the guide provides information such as year of establishment and number of employees. For each country, it also contains an outline of the address market with detailed information on prices, data protection, return rates, address formats and the correct salutations.

Geopost Expands the DPD Network to Slovenia

GeoPost continues the step-by-step expansion of the international DPD Parcel & Express network. As of today, Slovenia, represented by new franchise partner kurirska in paketna distribucija, has joined the permanent network, thereby extending the DPD network across the Balkans and into the new EU countries.

The keystone of this expansion is a joint venture with Austrian franchise partner Lagermax. Geopost will hold a 70% stake in the enterprise with the other 30% being held by Lagermax. This renewed cooperation, which has previously led to successful joint ventures in Hungary and Croatia, will enable DPD’s main shareholder GeoPost to further expand its international network within Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to its Austrian-based network, Lagermax has traditionally had close ties with the Balkan states and respectively has the advantage of an existing infrastructure in South-East Europe.

Austria and Slovenia Post joint venture

A meeting last week between Anton Wais, CEO of Austria’s Osterreichische Post AG (OP AG), and Alfonz Podgorelec, director general of the Slovenian Post, resulted in an agreement between the two companies to operate jointly on the East and South European markets in future. According to an official statement, the companies expect the co-operation to reinforce their competitiveness. The meeting also led to the forming of a joint committee for the development of a common strategy on the aforesaid markets.
