Posten has made a cash offer to the shareholders of Strålfors to acquire the entire outstanding share capital. Strålfors’ Board of Directors has unanimously recommended the Offer. Marianne Nivert, Chairman of the Board of Posten, comments the Offer: “The acquisition provides both companies with a strategic operational platform for growth and development on a market characterised by increased competition and globalisation. The ability to develop electronic and physical flows of messages also strengthens Posten’s ability to successfully fulfil its important public service assignment.”

Swedish national post office Posten AB plans to close down 26 post offices in the first quarter of 2006, it was reported on January 19, 2006. The closures are part of an ongoing restructuring of Posten’s operations, which will be completed by April 1, 2006. The move will affect 15 employees but the company will try to avoid layoffs. Under the reorganisation, the company will convert some 360 post centres across Sweden into corporate service centres as of April 1, 2006. Posten’s private clients will be redirected to its representative offices.
