DHL UAE sets up company’s first regional Customer Panel

DHL UAE has formed its first regional Customer Panel, in a bid to increase efficiency and service and become even easier to do business with. The DHL Customer Panel is made up of six key clients from different industries who will discuss issues concerning the development and streamlining of the company from a non-industry perspective. ‘The panel’s aim is to feedback views on what customers want and expect,’ said David Wild, General Manager, DHL UAE. ‘With direct customer input we hope to produce fresh and innovative ideas which will keep us ahead of the industry.’ Three customer panel meetings are planned this year and members will probe a number of issues including invoicing, account management, marketing and service. ‘The outcome of our first meeting was very positive,’ added Wild. ‘We received a number of significant suggestions and valuable feedback that we will be looking into further.’

SNAS/DHL makes major investment to upgrade services in UAE

The company will operate the 727 jet among Bahrain, Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah six days a week which will greatly reduce the transit time for deliveries of documents, parcels and heavyweight shipments, substantially increasing SNAS/DHL’s load capacity into KSA.

Samir Al-Judaibi, Air Operations and Gateways Manager from SNAS/DHL commented: ‘SNAS/DHL has been working towards this major step forward for more than a year and we are delighted that our daily flight service is now operational.” Al-Judaibi added, ‘By routing the flights via Dubai we can include shipments from the UAE, making this fast new service even more effective and convenient for our customers in the Kingdom. In addition, the new service gives a tremendous boost to our existing high load lifting capacity to 20 tonnes daily.’

Emirates Post to float 40 percent shares in 200

Emirates Post will float at least 40 per cent ofits shares in the local market by the end of this year, a top official from the company said yesterday.

Abdulla Ibrahim Al Daboos, director-general of Emirates Post, said that the issue will first be discussed with the board of directors and then with the Prime Minister cabinet for the final approval. The IPO will do tremendous impact on the financial market.

He said the company was not planning to go beyond that limit, according to a report in Khaleej Times Emirates Post expects to boost its annual turnover by 10 per cent this yearby continuing to diversify its range of services and believes postal services across the Gulf region can follow its example.

DHL given lead role in setting up GCC-wide Emirate

The Deutsche Post World Net subsidiary revealed that it had agreed to partner Dubai Customs in implementing the pilot programme that will lead to the full-blown GCC system. The Dubai project is expected to lead to full e-clearance in the Emirate within the next 18 months and the possibility that shipments could be cleared even before they enter port.

Phil Couchman, DHL’s Director for the Middle East, said: ‘We are in the process of helping to adapt the system to the needs of all of the GCC countries. Progress has been extremely promising.

DHL, the region’s leading express and logistics supplier, has announced that it will play an imperative role in the introduction of a GCC-wide system of digitalised e-clearance that will allow shipments to be cleared through customs within seconds.
