UK APC rolls out on line shipping service from NetDespatch

Express delivery company APC has become the first carrier to roll out a fully web-based shipping system throughout an entire national network. APC has selected NetDespatch to supply their 120-strong UK depot network with a service that allows all of their customers to book and track their shipments online. APC’s local agents will be able to incorporate the fully managed NetDespatch service in their websites to provide their customers with a broad range of advanced e-business facilities.

Pall-Ex signs R Swain & Sons as new member

Pall-Ex has signed R Swain & Sons as its new member depot for the Medway region, covering the Kent towns of Rochester, Sittingbourne, Gillingham and Maidstone.

Swain has 275 vehicles and 435 trailers and employs more than 450 people in 14 depots across the UK.

Xerox extends partnership with TNT Logistics

Xerox has awarded TNT Logistics in the UK a three-year contract to manage the company’s critical spare parts operation.

The contract involves the management of the London central parts warehouse and delivery to Xerox engineers – typically within 40 minutes in central London. TNT Logistics is also responsible for the delivery to engineers of spare parts located in 30 strategic stores around the country.

Nightfreight’s GBP89m buyout

UK overnight delivery group Nightfreight has completed a GBP89m (t133m) secondary management buyout, giving its management almost 50percent of the company’s shares.

CEO Robert Kelly said the irregular dimension and weight (IDW) freight specialist had almost doubled profits since its original MBO in 2001 by restructuring around two core divisions – IDW Network and IDW Logistics.
