DHL Express announces rate changes for January
DHL Express has announced general price increases for its services around the world, effective from January 1, 2012. Price changes vary from country to country, but include a general rate increase across Europe, understood to be between the 2% seen in Switzerland and 4.9% in Finland.
In most countries in Europe, including the UK and Germany, there is to be a 3.5% increase in DHL Express international products and a 5% increase in domestic products, the company said.
In the Asia Pacific region, there will be a general price increase for express services in most countries of 4.5%, including in Singapore.
A spokesperson for DHL Express also told Post&Parcel that there would be a 3.5% price increase for services in most countries in the Americas. In Latin America and the Caribbean this will comprise a 5.5% increase in rates and a 2% reduction in the fuel surcharge index.
Details for the US and Canada are to be released at a later date, DHL said.
The company, which adjusts its prices annually, said it was making the changes to take account of inflation rates and various rising costs in the 220 countries in which it operates. Price changes are for business customers, and will not change in any DHL retail outlets.
“Price adjustments will vary from country to country, depending on local conditions, and will apply to all customers where contracts allow,” the company said in a statement.
