FedEx Office now has 2,000 retail locations

A new FedEx Office store has opened in a Chesapeake, Virginia, Walmart, taking  the company up to 2,000 FedEx Office locations in total.

FedEx Office aims to put 500 locations in Walmart stores by May 2020 – it is currently at 150. The FedEx Office and Walmart rollout is part of the nationwide expansion of the FedEx retail channel, a network of retail locations offering FedEx services.

FedEx Office leaders attribute the increased physical footprint to the growth of e-commerce and the need for customers to have pickup and delivery options that go beyond FedEx Office products.

“Our 2,000 stores represent an unmatched nationwide network for both shipping and printing,” said Brian Philips, CEO and president of FedEx Office.  “We’re continually investing in new ways to make e-commerce easy for customers and retailers alike.  We also continue to enhance our network’s printing capabilities, which include advanced color management technology that ensures the accuracy and consistency of materials printed at any location nationwide.”

According to Metapack Consumer Research, 70% of consumers purchase from an e-tailer because they offer more delivery options, and 75% are concerned about porch piracy.  Online shoppers want control over where and when they receive packages – and how they return them.  In fact, 92% of customers will purchase again if a returns process is easy.

“Our busy customers view our stores as a one-stop-shop for all the products and services they are looking for,” said Daniel Eckert, Senior Vice President, Walmart Services and Digital Acceleration.

Among the 2,000 FedEx Office locations, there are stores inside hotel and convention centers, OnCampus sites at universities and corporate campuses across the country and 32 FedEx SameDay City markets serving more than 1,900 cities.
