FedEx: Alan Graf to retire after 40 years
FedEx Corp. has said that Chief Financial Officer Alan Graf Jr. is retiring on 31 Dec. 31, and Mike Lenz, the delivery giant’s corporate vice president and treasurer, will take over the role.
Graf started with FedEx in 1980 and assumed the CFO title for FedEx Express in 1991. In 1998, he became CFO for FedEx Corp. He will remain in his current position through Sept. 22 and then will serve as executive vice president and senior advisor through the end of 2020.
Lenz will assume the title of CFO-elect on June 1 and will officially become CFO for FedEx Corp. Sept. 22.
“In his 40 years at FedEx, Alan has helped build and transform this company,” Fred Smith, FedEx Corp. chairman and chief executive officer, said in a release.
“He has been part of every significant decision and helped navigate tremendous growth, strategic investments, international acquisitions, and global challenges. FedEx would not be the $69 billion globally admired corporation we are today without his leadership.”Mike’s extensive experience in our industry and his financial background have proven him to be an asset to FedEx,” Smith continued.
“I look forward to having Mike join the executive committee for the corporation as we continue driving the strategy for long-term growth and profitability.”
Lenz has been treasurer since 2012. Before that, he was Staff VP-Strategic Finance of FedEx from 2010-2012, and VP-Finance of FedEx Office and Print Services Inc. from 2005 to 2010.Before FedEx, Lenz worked at American Airlines Inc., with jobs in finance, investor relations, financial planning and analysis, international planning, and fleet planning, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
