Poste Italiane meets e-commerce demand with Landriano hub
Poste Italiane has inaugurated in Landriano (Pavia) the largest hub in Europe for e-commerce and express courier services.  The logistics centre stands on a total area of 80 thousand square meters, and it adopts extremely advanced technological solutions that allow its 600 employees to process 300 thousand parcels per day, ensuring fast deliveries throughout Italy.
The hub is equipped with an innovative automatic sorting system using the highest technological standards and with the help of 17 robots. 2,500 latest-generation photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof, which generate electricity capable of covering 80% of the plant’s consumption, reducing annual CO2 emissions by 210 tons.
Poste Italiane has invested a total of 60 million euros in the construction of the hub.
CEO, Matteo Del Fante commented on the opening: “The Landriano hub  is another step in the process of transforming the logistics infrastructure of Poste Italiane that focuses on innovation and sustainability to better respond to  Italians new online purchasing habits. It is a strategic infrastructure that allows us to develop the logistics network along the entire value chain, to grasp the full growth potential deriving from e-commerce. In 2020 alone, Poste Italiane delivered 210 million parcels, becoming the first operator with a market share of 36.7% and starting an extraordinary path that by 2025 it will bring the share of revenues generated by the parcel business to over 50% ”.
