PostNL significantly expands its footprint in Belgium

PostNL significantly expands its footprint in Belgium
In response to increased market demand, PostNL has announced that in September 2021 two new parcel depots will come on stream, while in 2022  PostNL will open its first high-tech sorting and distribution centre in Belgium, and break ground on building a second. It will create hundreds of new jobs in the process.

PostNL currently has seven parcel depots in Belgium, operating from Sint-Niklaas, Ardooie, Namen, Vilvoorde, Wommelgem, Sint-Truiden and Mechelen. The two latest additions will account for around 18,000 square metres of additional depot space.

Early in 2022, PostNL will open its first Belgian high-tech sorting and distribution centre in Willebroek, and current growth is driving major efforts to prepare for the construction of a second such centre in East Flanders. This is planned to become operational by the second half of 2022.

Additional jobs will be generated at these new depots and distribution and sorting centres both at PostNL and at its delivery partners. These expansions in Belgium are part of planned investments in PostNL’s capacity growth.
