ForteXport Struggles
Fortec’s ForteXport European service, launched in July 2005, is so far attracting little freight.
Just over a “trailer’s worth of palletised freight a day” is being moved, as Alan Cramley, network development director , concedes. “It’s not a massive volume but we are not disappointed. We expected the growth of the service to take time,” he tells MT. Pallets are moved on regular Geodis trailer trunks into Europe.
“Every time we see our licensees we mention the service to them,” Cramley continues. “The reaction has been fairly positive but some of them are floating voters on this one. However, we are confident that over time the service will grow.”
Palletways launched its international service last week, running a daily trailer service between Lichfield and Nijmegen and with “very ambitious growth targets”.
