DHL invests in Leipzig/Halle airport

DHL, the express and logistics subsidiary of German postal services group Deutsche Post, is to increase its activities at Leipzig/Halle airport in eastern Germany. The German company is to increase the number of flights it carries out each day from five to nine and will also fly to new destinations in the UK and the Czech Republic.

As of July, DHL will employ more than 240 people at Leipzig/Halle. The company plans to trans-ship more than 75 tonnes of freight a day in the future. The Deutsche Post subsidiary is investing around 300m euros in the airport, which is on its way to becoming an international hub.
