Austrian Post: We want to give students an insight into entrepreneurial practice

Austrian Post, together with the University of Music and Performing Arts Linz, the Vienna University of Technology, the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics and Business, will offer a course on “Digital Collecting” beginning in the summer term 2023.

As part of a hackathon – a meeting in which interdisciplinary solutions are developed – students will work in teams on innovative practical projects.

A total of 30 students can participate. The University of Vienna offers the hackathon as a separate course, at the other universities it is integrated into existing courses. “We want to give the students an insight into entrepreneurial practice and at the same time be challenged by how creative ideas around digital collecting and crypto applications can offer even more approaches that we are currently not considering. To find out, the students will work on various topics and present their own ideas,” explains Andreas Thöni, Head of Group Strategy, Digital & Innovation, Austrian Post. As part of the hackathon, students learn which aspects have to be considered from an artistic, technical, economic, communicative and legal point of view in practical projects. They should also take critical design perspectives and take environmental sustainability into account. Students attending this course will receive training on project challenges that companies constantly face and gain expertise in the fields of crypto and blockchain. The kick-off with an introductory event will take place online on 16 March. On 31 March and 1 April, a two-day hackathon will take place at the Hotel Altes Kloster in Hainburg an der Donau, where the project work will be fleshed out. The interim results will be presented at the end of May, and the final presentation will take place in mid-June at the Austrian Post am Rochus headquarters with evaluation by a jury of experts. The best projects will be awarded.
