Cisco System revolutionizes Saudi Post Corporation’s network infrastructure

Dr. Badr Al Badr, General Manager of Cisco Systems Saudi Arabia, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Post Corporation (SPC), the sole postal service provider in KSA, to transform their network and communications infrastructure by deploying Cisco’s LAN and WAN networking, Data Center, IP Telephony (Cisco Call Center), and Networking Security solutions.

“This is a model project where we have worked with SPC since the early stages of the project. We conducted two value creation workshops in London and Riyadh respectively to define the transformational themes and align the technology requirements to SPC’s business objective; as a result, a blueprint for the project has been developed”, Dr. Al Badr said.

“Saudi Post Corporation has been transformed from a state of ‘stagnancy’ to a state of ‘reformation’,” said Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Benten, President of the Saudi Postal Corporation (SPC). “It was essential to implement an advanced and a reliable communications infrastructure to match international standards and provide more efficient services to our valued customers.”

Dr. Benten further explained that the public and private sectors in the Kingdom are adopting ‘Digital Transformations’ to align their Information Technology with their business objectives, especially after the Kingdom’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

During his visit to the Kingdom last April, John Chambers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cisco Systems, was overwhelmed by SPC’s adoption of ‘Digital Transformation’ which provides the company with the ability to enhance its business processes and puts its strategic plans into effect.

Yvon Le Roux, Vice President, Public Sector, Cisco Systems, and the executive sponsor for the SPC project implementation team said: “This is a model project where we have worked with SPC since the early stages of the project. We conducted two value creation workshops in London and Riyadh respectively to define the transformational themes and also align the technology requirements to SPC business requirements; as a result, a blueprint for the project has been developed”.

Osama Altaf, Chief Information Officer, SPC, commented: “our project with Cisco Systems will be the kernel of building up a vibrant and top-notch infrastructure that helps provide the citizens with the best postal services, enabling the Saudi Post Corporation to efficiently provide additional postal services”.
