Gary Carroll returns to Asia Pacific Post Cooperative as MD
The Asia Pacific Post Cooperative (the Cooperative) has appointed Gary Carroll as its new Managing Director, effective 1 January 2024.
Gary returns to the Cooperative, having previously served as Managing Director from 2016 until January 2022. He takes over the role from Sid Hart, who is left the Cooperative at the end of 2023 to take on a new position heading up International Strategy and Partnerships at Singapore Post.
Under Gary’s previous leadership, the Cooperative established the APP ePacket wich has contributed to increased volumes for postal operators across the Asia Pacific region.
Commenting on his re-appointment, Gary said: “I’m delighted to be returning to the Cooperative. In the past two years, under Sid’s leadership the Cooperative has undertaken a wide ranging relaunch, with new branding, new initiatives such as opening the Cooperative to new non-postal members, the XBR cross border platform and its Asia Pacific Gateway project which aims to revolutionise the postal landscape in APAC.”
Gary continues “I look forward to building on this success and exploring new opportunities for growth. While it’s clear there are challenges ahead, Sid and his team have built a strong foundation for moving forward, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new capacity as a member of the Cooperative.”
Outgoing Managing Director Sid Hart said: “I’m immensely proud of what we have achieved in a little over two years and am happy that I get to hand the reins back to someone I know has the same passion for the Cooperative as I do! Gary played a major role in the Cooperative’s development during his previous tenure. I do not doubt that under his leadership, the Cooperative will continue to go from strength to strength. I wish Gary and the team all the best for the future and look forward to actively participating in the success of the Cooperative, only this time as a member.”
Lee Hon Chew, Chair of the Cooperative Management Board, said: “Gary brings extensive experience in the industry as well as a deep understanding of Cooperative and its culture. The Board is confident that under his guidance, the Cooperative is well placed to deliver on its commitment to members.”
Gary holds qualifications as a company director from the Institute of Directors and has over 40 years of experience in the international postal sector. He will be based at the Cooperatives headquarters in Singapore.
