Slovak Slovenska Posta Invests 6.4 Mln Euro in Post Offices 2006

Slovak postal services operator Slovenska Posta has planned investments of 238 mln Slovak crowns (USD8.1 mln/6.4 mln euro) in the construction and reconstruction of post offices in 2006, the company said.

Slovenska Posta has already invested some 30 mln crowns (USD1.0 mln/802,000 euro) in the reconstruction and upgrade of its post offices in Banska Bystrica, Ruzomberok, Bratislava, Presov, Sobrance, Levoca and Klin.

A further 20 mln crowns (USD677,700/535,000 euro) will be allocated for the reconstruction of Slovenska Posta post offices in Puchov and Sala, while 35 mln crowns (USD1.2 mln/936,000 euro) will be spent on the construction on new post offices in Sturovo and Leopoldov.

The postal services operator has planned the opening of new post offices also in Presov, Ruzomberok and Trnava.

Slovenska Posta posted a pre-tax profit of 551.442 mln crowns (USD18.7 mln/14.7 mln euro) for the first half of 2006. Its revenue grew by 6.5 pct on the year to 4.237 bln crowns (USD143.6 mln/113.3 mln euro), while costs increased by 11 pct to 3.686 bln crowns (USD124.9 mln/98.5 mln euro) for the period.

The company delivered 125 million letters, parcels and advertising materials for the first six months of 2006.

Slovenska Posta, based in Banska Bystrica, central Slovakia, was transformed from a state enterprise into a joint-stock company on October 1, 2004.
