Dot.coms work well for T&B
Six months after trials began Tibbett & Britten has added another e-commerce fulfilment contract to its client list.
The international logistics company’s latest venture is initially in the housewares and gifts sector on behalf of SF Cody’s Emporium, which describes itself as a ‘bricks and clicks’ retailer.
At its 82,OOOsq-ft Haramead distribution centre in Leicester, Tibbett has opened an e-commerce fulfilment and call centre for www.codygifts.com. The operation covers storage, picking, packing and dispatch of items from the client’s on-line catalogue for either next day or
48 hour delivery. Tibbett runs the call centre, which takes Cody’s customers’ phone and email enquiries, and provides value-adding services such as gift wrapping and preparing gift packs.
Robin Nye is Tibbett’s general manager at the centre. He says: ‘We share our client’s vision that the call centre and e-commerce fulfilment operations at Haramead should be highly integrated to minimise the frustration that all too often surrounds the process of buying over the internet. Every email and telephone enquiry is answered by a trained member of staff and we are
closely monitoring the performance of our delivery partners. The operation is proving the virtue of holding on and off-line inventories in a single location and we are planning to invest heavily in extending the facility.’
