E-zpoint launches latest drop-point network
A new contender in the drop-point market has emerged on the scene in the form of e-zpoint (pronounced “easy point”). Like existing players in this increasingly crowded market, it is planning to set up a network of around 10,000 drop-off points for home deliveries, chiefly at convenience store locations. We were told it had secured funding as we closed for press.
The business is led by managing director Lee Orme Gilbert, who has extensive experience of the retail trade (latterly she was involved in distribution and customer service centre management). She says she aims ultimately to extend the “e-z” branding beyond the drop-point business into other markets. The business development director, Ian Dodds, also has experience in retailing and service-related fields.
The company plans to charge £2 per delivery to drop-point consumers, of which a substantial proportion will be retained by the convenience store operator.
