DHL has increased its DHL Medical Express service to deal with the inbound and outbound transport of time-sensitive medicines, clinical supplies and time-sensitive specimens.

The service been improved to include additional benefits, such as priority handling to confirm shipment delivery to a pre-12 promise, and proactive location tracking by the DHL Quality Control Centre network to ensure ambient, chilled or frozen shipments are constantly monitored through to their delivery.

It also offers dedicated IT infrastructure that links all stakeholders in a Clinical Trial and provides advanced user reporting capabilities.

DHL Express’ vice president for product development, Roland Thomas, said: “We have an experienced team of experts and dedicated personnel operating in more countries than before who are supporting DHL Medical Express. Each team has a zero-default target and pro-actively solves shipment delays, regulatory and cultural issues, to ensure fast, reliable and efficient logistics for Clinical Trials programs.

“Besides the capability to manage diverse ambient, chilled and frozen shipments, DHL Medical Express is essentially a service that simplifies the complexity for laboratories of running a Clinical Trial. We offer our customers a sustainable and scalable solution that maintains compliance with local life science regulations, customs legislation and environmental recommendations.”
