Slovenian Post has reported that despite the economic crisis, it continues to operate successfully.

Slovenian Post said it had in the past year, carried out a 1.2bn services business and closed the year with €246.2m and operating income of €225.6m and operating expenses at €17.1m investment reached €23.6m pre-tax profit.

It said the results were good considering the present economic crisis. The business plan for 2009 is expected to be slightly more conservative, with an anticipated 6% lower operating income and 4% lower operating expenses.

“Although we are faced with an economic crisis which will reduce the scope of profitability, we are seeing a strengthening of market presence and the development and introduction of new and revised products which will more closely meet the demands of our customers,” said Ales Hauc, director-general of Slovenian Post.

Slovenian Post has intensified it’s introduction of new services in e-business, more streamlined business services and updated logistics.

“We will continue with the construction of post offices and modernisation and rationalisation of the fleet. We will create a comprehensive logistics solution” he said.
