TNT agree Astrata deal

Astrata Group announced it has been awarded a truck and container tracking contract by TNT Asia for its entire Asia Road Network.

Astrata Group announced it has been awarded a truck and container tracking contract by TNT Asia for its entire Asia Road Network.

The network links 127 cities and spans more than 7,500km. The contract has a term of four years.

Astrata said that after an extensive tender evaluation process TNT Asia chose Astrata as its partner for a region-wide asset tracking solution. The system also includes Astrata’s proven ‘anti-hijack protection’ which enables a vehicle that is stolen, hijacked or appears to be driven erratically to be stopped remotely using Astrata’s sophisticated vehicle tracking and immobilising solution.

Currently linking Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and most recently Cambodia, the network is Asia’s first such road network offering TNT customers a fully integrated, door-to-door, day-definite transportation solution throughout Asia.

Astrata’s GLP100 (Geo-Location Platform) will be fitted into TNT’s fleet of trucks and containers.

The Astrata GLP100 boasts real-time monitoring, secure communications and expandability to other sensors, effectors and data devices. The solution for TNT will include GPS, driver ID, 2-way voice, immobiliser (horns and blinkers), panic button, and cargo door sensor.

Astrata will also provide its latest software, Sirius Web 2, which TNT will host at its 24/7 monitoring centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will offer event alert management and the ability to send commands to the vehicle. The primary focus will be to ensure that vehicles do not deviate from predefined and approved routes as well as unauthorised stops and cargo door opening.

TNT Asia’s head of security, Tony Lugg, commented: “After a rigourous evaluation and subsequent trial we are confident that Astrata offers TNT Asia the most comprehensive and reliable solution available. This new system will provide TNT with a critical element that will further enhance our information, security and safety systems.”

Robin Littau, Astrata’s Asia and Middle East managing director added: “This contract award is a significant achievement for us and highlights our continuous rapid growth in this Region. With this impressive Fortune 500 company as our customer it is our goal to ultimately rollout this system with TNT globally. It is very exciting that TNT have recognised our technology to be state-of-the-art, supported by strong R&D and a solid product road map.”
