TNT launches inventory service

Service logistics business sees growth in Southeast Asia, reports the Journal of Commerce. The article continues:

Seeking more targeted logistics business in specialised shipping sectors, TNT rolled out an inventory and transportation service aimed at critical spare parts in Southeast Asia.

Called Storapart, the operation is targeted at what TNT says is a $597m market in the region.

The enhanced service enables customers to optimize inventory holding and transportation for critical spare parts around the region.

“TNT is well positioned to tap into the growing service logistics market in Southeast Asia especially in the high-end telecommunications, industrial and electronics sector,” said Karel van de Pijpekamp, director of sales and marketing of TNT Asia.

TNT said it expects the service logistics sector to grow in the area as the current financial downturn leads businesses to extend the life span of their equipment, hence boosting the demand for spare parts.
