DPD gives Vanderlande green light for hub build

Vanderlande Industries has won an order to build a new hub for DPD Netherlands. The so called Holland Hub – which will cater for DPD’s continuous growth in the country -will be located in Veenendaal and will be operational from May 2011.

Vanderlande said that the hub will be equipped with its CROSSORTER 1500 solution, which allows the sortation for both the B2B and B2C markets.

“Our passion for performance and quality on the one hand and the strong desire to provide optimal cost efficiency for our customers on the other hand, makes the sorting process crucial in the success of our depots,” said Michael van Ooijen, CEO of DPD in the Netherlands.

“Our success is founded on doing things right,” Van Ooijen added. “The Holland Hub enables us to even up this performance level, whilst at the same time staying conscious of minimalising environmental impact. With the crossorter we integrate maximum flexibility, conveyability and reliability, while also maintaining our cost effectiveness and thinking green.”

The system also consists of 10 infeeds and 30 outputs with the possibility to expand to 20 infeeds and 75 outputs.
