CitySprint acquires Mainlink Courier Services in UK
UK-based CitySprint has acquired Mainlink Courier Services for an undisclosed sum. CitySprint said the deal will strengthen its position in the south of England, and follows its acquisition of another courier firm, Road Runners, in October 2010.
Mainlink Courier Services was established in 1989, and offers a range of courier services from same day courier through to international shipments. The company has been trading under the CitySprint name since Friday (January 21).
Mainlink Courier Services’ Mark Butler said: “We were impressed by CitySprint’s professionalism and the benefits that our customers would get from them and therefore decided to hand over the reins.”
CitySprint said it will continue with its development strategy which has been fuelled by a period of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
CitySprint chief executive Patrick Gallagher said: “CitySprint is very pleased to welcome Mainlink as part of the business. Following the successful acquisition of Road Runners in late 2010, this will further consolidate our presence in Swindon and surrounding areas.
“We are committed to the continued growth of our business both organically and through carefully selected acquisitions, which enable us to continue to build our unique national network. We are therefore continuously looking for exciting acquisition opportunities across the country.”
