Magyar Posta announces price increase
Hungarian operator Magyar Posta has increased prices for its domestic postal services by an average of 4.8%. The price of a standard size, domestic priority letter increased from HUF 105 to HUF 115 (from EUR 0.38 to EUR 0.40).
Non-priority standard letters rose from HUF 80 to HUF 90 (from EUR 0.29 to EUR 0.33).
Magyar Posta said these price changes “do not represent a significant burden for private customers and micro businesses, as on average they post less than two such items each year”.
The price of postcards and picture postcards, accounting for more than half of retail traffic, have not changed and continue to cost HUF 80 for non-priority mail and HUF 105 for priority mail (EUR 0.29 and EUR 0.38 respectively).
Comparing the prices of 31 European countries, Magyar Posta said the cost of sending standard letters are below average, with Hungary being the ninth cheapest country for domestic services.
The new pricing plan came into effect last month.
