Correos subsidiary Chronoexpres partners with Portuguese logistics firm

Chronoexprés, the express subsidiary of the Spanish postal operator Correos, has signed an agreement with the Portuguese logistics operator Transporta-Go Express for bilateral parcel distribution in both countries. Through this strategic alliance, Chronoexprés is expanding its coverage in the Iberian Peninsula. Offering competitive prices, the company focuses on business parcels as well as B2B and B2C segments, banking and optical sectors. Transporta-Go-Express belongs to the Barraqueiro group, a major private Portuguese provider of passenger and freight transport. One company, Rodo Cargo, covers freight transportation while Transporta is in charge of parcel distribution in industrial and large areas on behalf of Barraqueiro. B2B and B2C shipments are distributed via Go Express. Transporta-Go Express counts seven branches throughout the Portuguese territory guaranteeing full coverage in 24 hours. Chronoexprés has a network of 57 branch offices providing total coverage across Spain thanks to the Correos network. As part of the agreement, the systems and transport networks of both companies will be integrated expanding capacity while looking for synergies to guarantee a quality service with total traceability from the beginning to the end of the shipping process. Antonio Cardenas, CEO of Chronoexprés, said: “With this strategic agreement, we hope to position ourselves as a leading distribution provider for the shipments of large customers in the Iberian Peninsula. This also includes offering the best solution for e-commerce and to be a reliable logistics partner for our customers in Spain and Portugal.” Sousa Antunes, Director of Sales & Marketing at Transporta-Go Express, also welcomed the agreement with the Spanish express operator. “With the deal, we have established an Iberian distribution network enabling us to position ourselves as a national leader in the parcel segment (for shipments weighing up to 40 kg) and freight (pallet and heavy goods with big volumes).” Antunes also highlighted the prospects in view of the synergies from cooperating with Chronoexprés as a partner in the Spanish market. Transporta-Go Express was founded in Algarve, southern Portugal, with the aim of providing quality service specialised in the B2C business to spread from there throughout the country. Chronoexprés has a fleet of 2,500 vehicles and has more than 100,000 sqm warehousing space. It employs 3,400 staff. Thanks to its integration in the Correos Group, Chronoexprés manages to serve 8,150 municipalities across Spain every day.
